Educational Equity Toolkit: Mental Health & Wellbeing

Mental health issues can pose a significant barrier to learning in UK schools, affecting students’ cognitive and emotional wellbeing. Conditions such as anxiety and depression can impact concentration, memory, and overall academic performance. Stigma surrounding mental health may discourage students from seeking help, exacerbating the challenges they face. Additionally, the pressure and competitiveness of the educational environment can contribute to stress and negatively impact mental health. Initiatives such as counselling services, mental health education, and creating a supportive and empathetic school culture are vital in breaking down the barriers to learning associated with mental health challenges.
