Feeling Good Week 2025: Celebrating Connection and Wellbeing with Surrey Healthy Schools
Surrey Healthy Schools’ Feeling Good Week returns from Monday 6 October to Friday 10 October 2025, culminating on World Mental Health Day. This annual initiative shines a spotlight on the importance of emotional wellbeing and mental health in education settings across the county.
This year’s theme, “Connect”, chosen by Surrey’s User Voice & Participation Team, is one of the core Time for Kids Principles. It encourages children and young people to build meaningful relationships, share experiences, and foster empathy – key ingredients for emotional resilience and wellbeing.
To support schools and settings from Early Years Foundation Stage to Key Stage 5, Surrey has developed a comprehensive PSHE: Social and Emotional Learning Resource. This evidence-based pack is designed to help educators embed effective, trauma-informed and strengths-based practices into their PSHE curriculum, not just during Feeling Good Week, but throughout the year.
The resource helps learners:
- Recognise and name emotions and feelings
- Understand the physical sensations linked to emotions
- Build relationships and work collaboratively
- Develop empathy and emotional literacy
By prioritising emotional health, schools contribute to wider strategic goals including Surrey’s Health and Wellbeing Strategy, Emotional Health & Wellbeing Strategy, Self-Harm Protocol, Suicide Prevention Strategy, and Lifetime of Learning Strategy. The approach also aligns with Mindworks Surrey’s Thrive Framework, supporting children and young people to flourish.
Feeling Good Week is a powerful reminder that good mental health is essential for learning, inclusion, and achievement. It’s a chance to celebrate the small steps we take every day to feel good – and to help others feel good too.
