Heads Up with Fiona Fearon

Heads Up is a series of professional learning ‘events’ to support and deepen thinking for school leaders. The events were originally face to face and have evolved to include virtual sessions.

During 2023, there will be three free Heads Up events: one per term.

The second in our series of Heads Up events this year, is a video of a conversation between Michele Miller from SAfE, with Fiona Fearon, Policy and Projects Manager at the National Governance Association (NGA). Fiona works with colleagues and key stakeholders in the sector to support the strategic leadership of education, with the overall goal of improving the educational standards and wellbeing of young people.

This conversation explores how we must ‘widen the lens’, to look beyond the frame of pupil premium, to challenge our thinking and practice for greater inclusivity in education, for the benefit of all .

Prior to working at NGA, Fiona had worked in the education sector for 16 years, primarily in alternative provision schools and pupil referral units, most recently as the Director of Safeguarding for pupil referral units in Sandwell. She is particularly passionate about addressing inequity in education and seeing children and young people realise their full value and potential.

The video is about 45 minutes long – please take a look!
