Heads up with Sam Strickland

Heads Up is a series of professional learning ‘events’ to support and deepen thinking for school leaders. The events were originally face to face and have evolved to include virtual sessions.

During 2022/23, there will be three free Heads Up events: one per term.

The first is a podcast with Michele Miller from SAfE in conversation with Headteacher and author, Sam Strickland. Sam’s latest publication is ‘The Behaviour Manual’, and in conversation, Sam explains his views and experiences on establishing ways of working in schools that enable learners to learn and teachers to teach. The conversation is about 40 minutes long. The feedback below reflects the potential for shared learning in school!

“Sam and Michele’s conversation was really helpful in crystallising some of the thinking that we are doing at school. It helped frame some of the thought processes that we are working through, support some of the systems and processes that we have already put in place to help give our students the best deal possible. We also used in our SLT meeting, the whole team had listened to it and then informed a discussion and some actions for us to put in place. A really helpful podcast that was full of positivity and sense.”
