AI in Secondary Schools

AI in Education Workshop Series

This series of workshops will provide opportunities for current professional learning and development around the use of AI in education.

The workshops are aimed at school leaders, teachers, curriculum leaders, teaching assistants, and school administrators. We are responsive in our approach, addressing key challenges in schools. Each workshop will include expert input alongside collaboration and practical group work as delegates identify challenges related to the workshop theme and use AI to generate solutions, supported by an AI expert.

AI in education is a rapidly developing field, and prioritising hands-on learning, reflection, and solution-focused approaches can be challenging. SAfE seeks to provide support for school leaders, teachers, and administrators to develop practical skills that can be implemented in their daily roles.

AI for Teacher Workload Reduction
This workshop will help school leaders and teachers explore practical AI solutions to reduce workload in key areas such as lesson and curriculum planning. Participants will focus on utilising AI tools to streamline the planning process, including creating schemes of learning, particularly for non-specialist teachers, to ease day-to-day pressures. With hands-on group work, supported by an AI expert, delegates will explore real examples of AI in education and identify how these can be applied to their own schools to reduce workload and increase efficiency.

AI for Adaptive Teaching
This workshop is designed for teachers, curriculum leaders, and teaching assistants who want to explore how AI can enhance adaptive teaching. The session will focus on using AI to personalise learning, tailoring it to individual students’ needs, and helping educators better manage diverse classrooms. Delegates will work through real challenges and AI-based solutions in small groups, applying these tools to their teaching practices, with guidance from an AI expert.

AI for Assessment and Feedback
This workshop will explore how AI can be used to improve assessment and feedback processes in schools. Teachers and leaders will be introduced to AI tools that streamline marking, provide real-time feedback, and enhance student engagement with their learning. Through collaborative group work, participants will identify how these AI tools can improve efficiency while maintaining high standards of assessment and feedback.

AI for School Administrators
This workshop is tailored for school administrators and office managers, focusing on how AI can enhance operational efficiency. Delegates will explore AI tools that can automate repetitive tasks, streamline processes, and improve marketing and communications. Participants will work through real-life examples and collaborate on identifying AI solutions that can reduce administrative workload, all while being guided by an AI expert.

The programme aims to:

  • Share good practice and innovative AI-driven approaches to common challenges in education.
  • Evaluate the impact of AI solutions for pupils, including those with SEND and/or disadvantaged backgrounds.
  • Build a community of good practice as a support network for educators and administrators looking to implement AI solutions in their schools.
