Assessment Leader AM Briefings 23-24

The set of 4 briefings will support Assessment Leaders to administer statutory assessments during the academic year. SAfE will provide clarity around expectations, delivery of assessments, moderation, monitoring, access arrangements and preparation for each assessment point. Led by the Surrey Moderation Manager, the meetings will include national updates, provide opportunities for collaboration and disseminate best practice.

The beliefs, knowledge, understanding and/or teaching practices this programme aims to address:  

  • Accurate assessment and use of data. 
  • Teachers will understand the assessment cycle and how assessment is used locally and nationally. 
  • Pupils will sit assessments in the correct way without over-aiding, relevant access.

Intended Impact on practice: 

  • Assessment Leaders will be able to support teachers, headteachers and other school stuff.  
  • Assessments will be delivered accurately, fairly and in accordance with statutory guidance. 
  • Assessment leads will ensure updates are provided and lead on assessment confidently.   

Intended improvement and/or evaluation of impact for pupils, including those with SEND and/or disadvantaged backgrounds**: 

  • Assessment and moderation will be accurate and fair for all pupils.
