Clerks’ Briefing Spring Term 25

Our virtual briefings offer clerks an invaluable opportunity to stay informed about critical local and national developments relevant to their roles and the boards they support. Each termly session also includes a dedicated element of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) to enhance your knowledge, skills, and confidence.

The CPD focus for our spring term briefing will be on being able to understand and implement best practice in minute taking.

Participants will be able to:

• understand the importance of effective minute-taking to produce concise, accurate, and well-balanced records of meetings
• understand the standard items that must be recorded including compliance items
• actively listen and clearly capture governors’ support and challenge to provide evidence that they are fulfilling their strategic role
• identify and record actions and re-visit those agreed at the next meeting
• clearly record decisions taken and the discussion/context behind these
• understand which items should be recorded under Confidential (Part 2) minutes
