Educational Equity 23-24

The impact of socioeconomic disadvantage on learning is pernicious. Unchecked, we know that this gap widens incrementally from early years throughout a pupil’s educational career. In Surrey, our challenge is often finding ways to support small numbers of target pupils dispersed across the school. Finding ways to ensure educational equity for pupils remains a priority at SAfE. In 2023-24, we will continue our work with Marc Rowland.  We encourage all Surrey secondary schools to join the 2023-24 programme. It will be a blend of:

• Professional Learning
• Peer school visits
• Action Learning Sets

We are pleased to offer this programme to all SAfE subscribing schools for FREE, and non-subscribing Surrey schools for just £250 for the year.

The beliefs, knowledge, understanding and/or teaching practices this programme aims to address:

• Knowledge and understanding of how socioeconomic disadvantage impacts on learning

Intended Impact on practice:

• Exploring ways to mitigate inequity in education with partner schools, supported by expert advice and information.

Intended improvement and/or evaluation of impact for pupils, including those with SEND and/or disadvantaged backgrounds**:

• Working towards equity in education.
