Making School Unmissable with Rachel Macfarlane Autumn 26

Making School Unmissable is an inspiring, practice‑focused event designed to help school leaders create cultures where every pupil feels motivated, included, and eager to learn. Led by Rachel Macfarlane, the session will explore the leadership behaviours, curriculum approaches, and relational practices that make schools places pupils want to be. Through evidence‑informed insight, real examples, and reflective discussion, leaders will gain practical strategies to strengthen engagement, attendance, and belonging. This event equips participants with the tools and confidence to build schools that are joyful, purposeful, and truly unmissable for every child.

This session will:

  • Strengthen leaders’ belief in inclusive, high‑expectation cultures where every child feels they belong
  • Build knowledge of evidence‑informed strategies that boost engagement, attendance, and motivation
  • Develop teaching and leadership practices that create meaningful, relational, and inspiring learning experiences

The intended impact on practice:

  • Leaders apply evidence‑informed strategies to strengthen pupil engagement, attendance, and sense of belonging
  • Staff adopt more relational, inclusive, and consistent approaches that make classrooms welcoming and motivating
  • Schools develop cultures and routines that prioritise joy, purpose, and high expectations, ensuring pupils want to be in school every day

Intended improvements for pupils:

  • Increased attendance, engagement, and sense of belonging for all pupils, with the greatest gains for those who are vulnerable
  • More consistent, inclusive classroom experiences that ensure every child can access learning, feel valued, and make strong progress
  • Improved academic outcomes, wellbeing, and behaviour as a result of stronger relationships, purposeful routines, and motivating learning environments
