SAfE & Xavier Middle Leaders Primary & Secondary 26-27

This programme is focus on personalised, real world leadership growth—each participant leads a genuine change project within their own school, ensuring that the learning is immediately relevant, authentic and transformative.

This programme, delivered in partnership with Xavier CET, supports teachers who are new to leadership or aspiring to step into leadership roles.
It is designed to help participants develop the skills needed to lead others with confidence and to manage meaningful change within their schools. Through a blend of guided learning and practical application, the programme provides a strong foundation for understanding what effective leadership looks like in an educational setting.

Throughout the course, participants work through the full process of change management by identifying an area of their practice they wish to improve and using the programme’s tools to advance it. The focus on praxis ‘learning through doing’ ensures that each participant not only gains knowledge but also applies it directly to their context. The programme explores the less tangible yet vital aspects of leadership, such as building trust, influencing teams and navigating interpersonal dynamics, to support more successful implementation of change.

Learning is paced deliberately across the year, with six face to face sessions. Three sessions take place during the autumn term, with the remaining three spaced across the rest of the academic year to foster ongoing reflection, development and impactful practice.
Each session is held in person at the SAfE HQ in Woking, providing a collaborative environment where emerging leaders can share experiences and deepen their understanding of effective school leadership.

By engaging with themes such as establishing a strong culture, leading people, implementing and sustaining change and returning to self assessment, participants develop a deeper understanding of themselves as leaders and gain practical strategies to drive improvement.
