Secondary Educational Equity 24-25

A programme to support, challenge and inform school leaders with a responsibility for leading Educational Equity in their settings.

The attainment gap between underserved students and their peers remains wide and stubborn in Surrey. Unchecked, we know that this gap widens incrementally from early years throughout a pupil’s educational career. In Surrey, our challenge is often finding ways to support small numbers of target pupils dispersed across the school. Finding ways to ensure educational equity for pupils remains a priority at SAfE. In 2024-25, we will continue our work with Marc Rowland. We encourage all Surrey secondary schools to join the 2023-24 programme. It will be a blend of:

  • Professional Learning
  • Peer school visits
  • Action Learning Sets

The beliefs, knowledge and or teaching practices this programme aims to address

  • Knowledge and understanding of how socioeconomic disadvantage impacts on learning

Intended Impact on Practice

  • Exploring ways to mitigate inequity in education with partner schools, supported by expert advice and information.

Intended improvement and/or evaluation of impact for pupils, including those with SEND and/or disadvantaged backgrounds
