Following the success of our SAfE Subject Curriculum leader’s forum, we are keen to mirror this with an offer that supports pastoral and behaviour leaders for KS 3 and KS4. We know that behaviour ‘feels different’ in post-pandemic schools, and that we cannot continue to use ‘old strategies to solve new behaviour challenges’. As pupil absence levels increase, and stamina for learning can be unstable, how do we ensure that pastoral and behavioural support is precise, impactful and manageable in 2023/24?
The conference a 1/2-day conference on 2nd October, with a keynote and facilitated discussion by Sam Strickland. Sam is principal at The Duston School (an all through school in Northampton, and Behaviour hub lead school), ResearchEd Northampton organiser and author. Sam’s most recent publication is ‘They don’t behave for me’ and offers approaches to fifty behaviour scenarios which provides a useful resource to experienced and novice teachers.
Dates for the forum for the remainder of next academic year will be shared at the conference. This forum will provide opportunities for current, and evidence-based professional learning and development. The forum is aimed at Key Stage leaders, Assistant and Deputy Heads with responsibility for behaviour in their schools.
