Small Schools Network 26-27
Following on from the success of this highly beneficial network, SAfE are delighted to offer this course free of charge to all small schools.
The SAfE Small Schools Network provides a dedicated professional learning space for leaders working within the distinctive context of small schools. Through three twilight sessions, the network explores the particular challenges faced by small‑school leaders and offers practical, research‑informed strategies to address them. Each session draws on the expertise of small‑school headteachers and current educational research, ensuring that discussions and guidance are grounded in both evidence and lived experience.
The network supports leaders to navigate national and local priorities through the lens of a small‑school setting, where staffing structures, mixed‑age teaching and resource constraints often require creative and adaptive approaches. Participants engage in collaborative problem‑solving, sharing best practice and exploring effective ways to meet the needs of increasingly complex learners, including those requiring inclusive classroom practices and targeted interventions.
By connecting leaders across the region, the Small Schools Network fosters a culture of continuous improvement, enabling schools to strengthen their provision, enhance leadership capacity and ensure that every pupil—regardless of school size—benefits from high‑quality, inclusive education.
