Supporting Continuous Improvement for Inclusion, using the Surrey Inclusion Framework to help develop sustainable approaches to continuously improve outcomes for inclusion across Surrey. Using the Surrey Inclusion Framework to robustly self-evaluate current practice, identify areas for development and then work collaboratively with other settings to further improve inclusive practices.

The beliefs, knowledge, understanding and/or teaching practices this programme aims to address:

  • Robust self-evaluation to consider the intent, implementation and impact of school actions
  • Reflecting on the systems in place to identify learners with SEND
  • Reviewing assessment and tracking systems and the resulting action taken following analysis
  • Evaluating the role of teaching assistants and how they develop independence
  • Analysing PP and SEND funding to gauge its impact and how it used to target needs

Intended Impact on practice:

  • Strategic reflection on the whole school infrastructure for meeting the needs of learners with SEND and those that are disadvantaged
  • Collaborative working with other schools to share knowledge and effective strategies as well as challenging existing approaches to inclusion

Intended improvement and/or evaluation of impact for pupils, including those with SEND and/or disadvantaged backgrounds**:

  • Development of targeted provision that focuses on the needs of learners who are struggling to access the curriculum
  • Strategic planning which will help further develop inclusive practices in settings using a clear understanding of the whole school context
  • Opportunities for student voice and family voice to influence practices within schools to help address actual needs and barriers to engagement
  • Schools working beyond their own setting to share and support the ongoing development of inclusive practices to directly target the needs of vulnerable learners
