SAfE appoints Patrick Alexander as new Chief Executive Officer

Schools Alliance for Excellence (SAfE), a collaborative organisation focused on working with schools in the Southeast of England, is delighted to announce the appointment of Patrick Alexander as its new Chief Executive Officer, following a rigorous and comprehensive selection process by the board.

Patrick brings extensive experience and a proven track record of success across schools, Multi-Academy Trusts (MATs), and local authorities. Most recently, he served as Assistant Director at Hackney Education and Head of Education at the London Borough of Newham. His experience extends to national policy, having led work on the Children’s Commissioner for England’s influential Big Ambition and Big Ask reports.

Patrick’s blend of strategic and operational experience will be invaluable as SAfE looks to deepen its work with Surrey schools and other partners. This appointment reinforces SAfE’s shared commitment to excellence, collaboration, and inclusion, ensuring the best outcomes for children and young people across Surrey and beyond.

David Harris, Chair of the SAfE board said, “We are thrilled to welcome Patrick to lead SAfE into its next chapter. His deep understanding of the education landscape, from the classroom to national policy, makes him the ideal leader to support our schools and drive forward our mission to deliver outstanding outcomes for every child in Surrey.”

Patrick Alexander commented, “I am honoured and excited to take on this role at SAfE. I strongly believe in the power of collaboration, and I look forward to working with all our colleagues, schools, and stakeholders to develop the strength and impact our partnership, one that always puts the needs of schools and young people at its heart.”

Patrick will officially start with SAfE on Monday, November 17th. In the coming weeks, he will be setting up opportunities to meet with colleagues and canvas views on SAfE’s future shape and development.
