Rethinking Inclusion

The theme for our 4th Surrey Schools SEND Conference this year is ‘Rethinking Inclusion.’ We are anticipating further national SEND reforms to be announced soon and we are focusing our conference on giving schools and settings the information, skills and tools to be ready for the future of SEND and inclusion.

We will be joined by keynote speakers who will update us on the proposed national changes and the shift towards a needs-led model of inclusion for children and young people with additional needs.

SEND Conference Aims

  • To showcase effective inclusive practice within our Surrey schools and settings
  • To explore how innovation and early intervention supports schools and settings in meeting the needs of their whole school community
  • To support, inspire and motivate practitioners who are working hard every day to ensure that no learner is left behind

Together, we can create an education system that meets the needs of all children, including the most vulnerable. We want to ensure that children and young people feel that they belong and that they are able to thrive within their education setting. We know that this can only be achieved through:

  1. Strong leadership of inclusion at all levels across all schools and settings
  2. A strong offer of support for mainstream schools and settings
  3. A strong commitment to partnership working, towards a shared goal – to achieve the best outcomes for all Surrey children and young people, including those with additional needs.
